Waxahatchee just released Out in the Storm, via Merge Records, last week. Back in April, singer-songwriter Katie Crutchfield spoke to Abby Haglage over at Lenny Letter about what’s behind the band’s fourth album:
I don’t want to call it a break-up record, but it was a romantic and professional relationship that fell apart. I had to end it, and it rippled throughout every little corner of my life. Getting on the other side of that and reflecting on the whole spectrum of sadness and anger and resentment, I came out of it and I was a lot closer to myself, which I think is common too. People lose themselves into relationships sometimes.
Riding with Katie down the empowering road to liberation and catharsis, along with longtime bandmates, are her twin sister Allison and legendary indie-rock producer John Agnello, crafting ten flawless tracks showcasing the Alabama-born Crutchfield’s songwriting talent.
