Friday 8/25: The Chimera Reading Series continues at Kathy Osterman Beach (5800 N Lake Shore Drive). Readers include Mandy Clark, Matthew DeMarco, Zahra Marie, and Victor M. Smith. 7 p.m., free.

Sunday 8/27: As always, the Uptown Poetry Slam is going down at The Green Mill. Open mic starts at 7 p.m. followed by the slam itself. $7, 21+.

Monday 8/28: Join filmmaker/artist Lori Felker as she shares her online video project MOVING to kick off a discussion of where magic and media meet. Women & Children First, 7:30 p.m., free.

Tuesday 8/29: Jeffrey Brown will be at The Book Cellar for the launch of his book, Lucy & Andy Neanderthal: The Stone Cold Age.

Wednesday 8/30: Ola Faleti, Quraysh Ali Lansana, Christine Rice, Martha Bayne, and Garin Cycholl discuss Rust Belt Chicago: An Anthology, a collection of essays, journalism, fiction, and poetry about Chicago. 57th Street Books, 6 p.m., free.
