Friday 12/8: Come celebrate the launch of Liliun Magazine with a reading by young writers. Liliun is a literary magazine that features the work of writers ages 15–21. The inaugural issue’s theme is “First Times.” Mother Foucault’s Bookshop, 7 p.m., free.

Monday 12/11: In This Is the Place, thirty women writers explore the theme in personal essays about neighbors, marriage, kids, sentimental objects, homelessness, domestic violence, solitude, immigration, gentrification, geography, and more. Editor Margot Kahn will be joined by contributors Tara Conklin, author of The House Girl, Maya Jewell Zeller, author of Rust Fish, and Kailea Wallin, author of the essay, “Sea Home.” Powell’s City of Books, 7:30 p.m., free.
