Friday 1/19: Visit Women & Children First to celebrate the release of the new chapbook, Reasons for Smoking, by Xandria Phillips. Xandria will be joined by Chekwube Danladi. 7:30 p.m., free.

Sunday 1/21: The Book Cellar welcomes Edward Hamlin, who will be reading from his collection, Night in Erg Chebbi and Other Stories. 4 p.m., free.

Wednesday 1/24: Head to Women & Children First to hear Pamela Bannos in conversation with Donna Seaman about Bannos’s book, Vivian Maier: A Photographer’s Life and Afterlife. 7:30 p.m., free.

Thursday 1/25: The American Writers Museum hosts American Writers Trivia! Guests can wander the museum, learn about American writing and American writers, and test their trivia knowledge. 6:30 p.m., $20.

The John Barr Reading Series at The Poetry Foundation welcomes Jamaal May. 7 p.m., free.
