Thursday 2/8: The Wooden Shoe will host a discussion with Anna Feigenbaum, author of Tear Gas: From the Battlefields of WWI to the Streets of Today. 7 p.m. at Wooden Shoe Books and Records.
Friday 2/9: Carmen Maria Machado, Philadelphia-based author of Her Body and Other Parties, will read at 7 p.m. in Mt. Airy at Big Blue Marble Bookstore.
The Philly launch of The Earthquake Room, a new novel by Davey Davis, will also feature readings by local writers Faye Chevalier and Angelo Colavita! 7 p.m. at Wooden Shoe Books and Records.
Monday 2/12: Poems Night returns to Little Berlin with featured readers Cris Meadows, Alexandra Naughton, Amber Renee, and Amy Saul-Zerby, followed by an open mic! 7 p.m. at Little Berlin.
One Book, One Philadelphia, a signature event of the Free Library of Philadelphia that encourages the Philly area to come together through reading and discussing a single book, is currently featuring programming around Another Brooklyn by Jacqueline Woodson. Join Painted Bride Quarterly for responses to the novel’s themes with poets Joel Dias-Porter, Marissa Johnson-Valenzuela, p.e. garcia, and Kirwyn Sutherland. 7:30 p.m. at Black Sheep Pub and Restaurant.
