Join author Chibundu Onuzo to celebrate the release of her novel Welcome to Lagos. Thursday 5/17: As a part of the Loft’s “To Be Honest” theme, join this celebration and discussion of Contemporary Plays by Women of Color. Drawing from pathbreaking theaters across the country, this new anthology features plays from renowned and emerging playwrights, presenting a rich array of voices and aesthetics in a transforming America. Saturday 5/19: Author Gary Kaunonen will discuss his book Flames of Discontent: The 1916 Minnesota Iron Ore Strike, which tells the story of the 1916 miners’ strike in northern Minnesota, one of the most important events in organized labor history of the 20th century, and what it meant for workers, immigrants, and labor relations.
