Wednesday 7/18: PressPlay, a reading and live poetry podcast on a mission to profile all of Philly’s small presses, open mics and performance poetry crews, will feature the Fuze Philly Poetry Slam team. 7 p.m. at Moonstone Arts Center.
Zach Blackwood and Alina Pleskova will host “Franks O’Hara,” a celebration of poetry and hot dogs. Featured readers include Tyler Antoine, Raena Shirali, Kayleb Rae Candrilli, Kirwyn Sutherland, Jonathan Burkhalter, Sebastian Castillo, and Gala Mukomolova. 6 p.m. at Institute of Contemporary Art.
Wooden Shoe Books will host a discussion between Onnesha Roychoudhuri, author of The Marginalized Majority: Claiming Our Power in a Post-Truth America, and Philly organizers Hannah Sassaman and Malcolm Harris. 7 p.m. at Wooden Shoe Books and Records.
Thursday 7/19: The Penn Book Center will host a discussion between Nancy Rommelmann, author of To the Bridge: A True Story of Motherhood and Murder, and Emma Eisenberg. 6 p.m. at Penn Book Center.
Saturday 7/21: The Philly Homebrew Reading Series returns with readings by Paul Siegell, Kim Gek Lin Short, Alexis Apfelbaum, and Kyle Brown-Watson. 5:30 p.m. at Philly Homebrew Outlet.
The “Women’s Worlds” group will host a discussion of Pearls on a Branch: Oral Tales, a collection of Syrian and Lebanese folktales infused with new life by Lebanese women, collected by Najla Khoury. 3 p.m. at Penn Book Center.
Sunday 7/22: Blue Stoop will host their monthly literary happy hour at Win Win Coffee Bar. The happy hour will feature readings by Raena Shirali, Berry Grass, and Emma Eisenberg, the teachers of the organization’s forthcoming workshops. 5 p.m. at Win Win Coffee Bar.
Monday 7/23: Philly Socialists and Wooden Shoe Books will host a talk with writer and historian Aaron Leonard. 7 p.m. at Wooden Shoe Books and Records.
