Tuesday 10/2: The Temple University MFA Program in Creative Writing presents a reading by acclaimed poet and essayist Brian Blanchfield. 5 p.m. at Temple Contemporary.

Wednesday 10/3: Penn Book Center will host a reading and discussion with Imani Perry, author of Looking for Lorraine. 6 p.m. at Penn Book Center.

Moonstone Poetry will present readings by local poets Sean Hanrahan and Amy Saul-Zerby, followed by an open mic. BYO-poems! 7 p.m. at Fergie’s Pub.

Thursday 10/4: Head to Penn Book Center for a poetry reading and discussion with Tarfia Faizullah, author of Registers of Illuminated Villages, and Raena Shirali, author of Gilt. 6 p.m. at Penn Book Center.

Friday 10/5: Penn Book Center will host “Imagining Memory”, a reading and discussion with Cameron MacKenzie, Susan Barr-Toman, and Tim Fitts. 6 p.m. at Penn Book Center.

The Accidental Player reading series returns with an evening of poetry featuring readings by Dan Brady, Courtney Gambrell, Lindo Yes!, and Courtney LeBlanc. Hosted by Gina Myers. 7 p.m. at Wooden Shoe Books and Records.

The Philly Pigeon Poetry Slam returns with featured poet Ursula Rucker. Come perform, watch, or judge. 8:30 p.m at PhilaMOCA.

Monday 10/8: Painted Bride Quarterly presents an evening of poetry featuring readings by Le Hinton, Michelle Myers, Kate Delany, and Kathleen Volk Miller. 7:30 p.m. at Black Sheep Pub and Restaurant.

Blue Stoop and Penn Book Center will host a reading and discussion with Casey Gerald, author of There Will Be No Miracles Here, and Beth Kephart. 6 p.m. at Penn Book Center.
