Friday 3/15: Don’t miss a conversation with Laurie Halse Anderson in celebration of her poetic memoir, SHOUT. Anderson will be joined by Mikki Kendall. Hosted by Women & Children First at the Swedish American Museum. 7 p.m., tickets are $20 and include a copy of the book.

Women & Children First hosts an author conversation with Chris Cander and Rebecca Makkai in celebration of Cander’s new novel, The Weight of a Piano. 7 p.m., free.

Saturday 3/16: Visit Volumes Bookcafe to celebrate the launch of local author and UIC professor Roy Christopher’s newest book, Dead Precedents: How Hip-Hope Defines the Future. 7 p.m., free.

Monday 3/18: Essay Fiesta returns to The Book Cellar once again for an evening of live lit. 7 p.m., donations to 826CHI encouraged.

Tuesday 3/19: The Open Door Reading Series continues at The Poetry Foundation with Jenny Boully and her student Lily Someson, and Sara Wainscott and her student Zachary Swezy. 7 p.m., free.

Wednesday 3/20: The Book Cellar hosts local author night featuring Maryse Meijer (Rag), Augustus Rose (The Readymade Thief), and Quentin Forberg (For Februus In Hiding). 7 p.m., free.

Thursday 3/21: Don’t miss the book launch party for The New Me by Halle Butler. Halle will be joined in conversation with Kathleen Rooney. Women & Children First, 7 p.m., free.
