Ten writers will read their works of poetry, memoir, and fiction! Featured writers are KateLynn Hibbard, reading from her award-winning book of poetry, Simples, and Elissa Cottle and Laura Scott, co-authors of the 2019 memoir, The Victory Daughter. Other emerging writers to read include Emmett Carolan, Klay Eckles, Lizzie Harris, Scott Jacobs, Kristin Klemetsrud, Kimberly Schneider, and Nicole Schumacher. The Zephyr Theatre, 2 p.m., free.
Monday 5/20: Renowned local author and poet Ed Bok Lee will present passages from his new book of poetry, Mitochondrial Night. Taking mitochondrial DNA as his guide, Lee explores familial and national legacies, and their persistence across shifting boundaries and the erosions of time. East Lake Library, 6 p.m., free.
Max Porter presents Lanny, in conversation with Fiona McCrae of Graywolf Press. Book signing and refreshment reception to follow. Tuesday 5/21: Come enjoy a reading and performance of Ladan Osman’s new collection, Exiles of Eden, co-hosted by Milkweed Editions and Coffee House Press. Open Book/Loft Literary Center, 7 p.m., free.
Thursday 5/23: Enjoy the book release celebration for Dobby Gibson’s new collection of poems Little Glass Planet. Gibson will read from the book, followed by a conversation with Graywolf Press Executive Editor Jeff Shotts. Black Dog Cafe, 7 p.m., free.
Friday 5/24: The Hook & Ladder Theater is proud to present the book release party for Junker Dreams: An Automotive Memoir by local author/actor Paul Dickinson. This will be an evening of readings, snackings, and musical performances featuring a myriad of special guests like comedian Mary Mack and the St. Paul based indie-folk duo The Fires of 1918: Fantome Rosu Duo.
