Wednesday 8/21: Children’s book authors Meenal Patel and Teresa Peterson discuss their most recent books, the creative process, and the push to diversify children’s literature. Magers & Quinn Booksellers, 7 p.m., free.

Saturday 8/24: Join youth writing center 826 MSP for a back-to-school bash featuring local authors, student readings, and activities for the whole family. 826 MSP, 3 p.m., free.
