Monday 9/16: Faith Sullivan presents her new novel, Ruby & Roland, featuring a conversation with actress Margaret Shyrer and a performance from pianist Michael Anthony. Milkweed Editions, 7 p.m., free.

Tuesday 9/17: Word Sprout hosts a welcome show at its new venue in Minneapolis, featuring performers from the Word Sprout Show Collective: Poetry SlamMN!, Story SlamMN!, OUTspoken!, Not-So-Silent Planet, and Encyclopedia Show Minneapolis. Red Stag Supperclub, 8 p.m., $10.

Thursday 9/19: Susan Bartlett Foote presents The Crusade for Forgotten Souls: Reframing Minnesota’s Mental Institutions, 1946–1954. SubText Books, 7 p.m., free.

Friday 9/20: Katherine Quie and Amy Hallberg discuss the process and therapeutic benefits of a writing practice. Next Chapter Booksellers, 7 p.m., free.

Saturday 9/21: True-life scary story podcast Lore is live in Minneapolis. Ted Mann Concert Hall, 7 p.m., $45.
