The Dead Bards Poetry Series will present readings by Krisann Janowitz, Rebecca Kokitus, and Octavia McBride-Ahebee, followed by an open mic. Hosted by James Feichthaler. 8 p.m. at Venice Island Performing Arts Recreation Center.
Saturday 11/30: The African American Book Expo is coming to Philadelphia. The event will be family-friendly and free with online registration. 1 p.m. at The Victorian Banquet Hall.
Mural Arts will present a book launch party for Monument Lab: Creative Speculations for Philadelphia. Featured speakers will be Paul Farber, Ken Lum, Laurie Allen, Jane Golden, Homay King, Karyn Olivier, Ursula Rucker, Kirk Savage, and Marisa Williamson. The event is free and open to the public. 5 p.m. at Institute of Contemporary Art.
Uncle Bobbie’s Coffee & Books will present a book talk by Michael Eric Dyson, author of Jay Z: Made in America. The discussion will be moderated by Marc Lamont Hill. 6 p.m. at Uncle Bobbie’s Coffee & Books.
The Monday Poets series will present readings by University of the Arts professor Zach Savich and UArts creative writing alumni Amy Jannotti, Glorious Piner, and Hazel the Aura. 6:30 p.m. at Free Library of Philadelphia.
