Thursday 12/13: Northwest writer Melissa Anne Peterson reads from her debut novel, Vera Violet. Powell’s City of Books, 7:30 p.m., free.

Every second Thursday of the month, Black women and Black nonbinary people are invited to join the Well-Read Black Girl Book Club. This month’s selection is How Long ‘Til Black Future Month? by N. K. Jemisin.

Friday 12/14: Marie MacMillan hosts the launch of her new book, The Reboot: 50 Dates with Myself. Base Camp Brewing, 12 p.m., free.

Saturday 2/15: Mother Foucault’s Bookshop hosts the release of Best Small Fictions 2019, which will include readings from featured authors like Jennifer Fliss, Marcelle Heath, and Ben McPherson Ficklin. Mother Foucault’s Bookshop, 7 p.m., free.

Books with Pictures hosts a staged reading Matt Cox’s play Puffs, with all ticket proceeds going to support TransActive. Books with Pictures, 8 p.m., $10 suggested donation.

Sunday 2/16: Mary Doyle reads from late husband Brian Doyle’s final collection, One Long River of Song. She will be joined by their sons, Joe and Liam, for the reading. Powell’s City of Books, 7:30 p.m., free.

Tuesday 2/18: Gayle Brandeis reads from her novel in poems, Many Restless Concerns. She will be joined in conversation by Rene Denfeld, author of The Butterfly Girl. Powell’s City of Books, 7:30 p.m., free.

David Loftus hosts a special Valentine’s Day edition of Story Time for Grown Ups, featuring stories on marriage on the wedding state by E.B. White, James Thurber, Dave Barry, and others. Rose City Book Pub, 8 p.m., free.

Wednesday 2/19: Editor Jaclyn Friedman presents the anthology Believe Me, joined by contributors Katherine Cross and Sassafras Lowery. Powell’s City of Books, 7:30 p.m., free.
