Source note: My main source for this comic is the biography, Red Bird, Red Power: The Life and Legacy of Zitkala-Ša by Tadeusz Lewandowski. Quotations are taken from it and from American Indian Stories by Zitkala-Ša. Using internet sources as a guide, I’ve used the accented “Zitkála-Šá” throughout, but the Lewandowski biography doesn’t have the accents on the “a”s.
