Alejandro Varela is a writer based in New York. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in The New Republic, The Southampton Review, Pariahs (an anthology, SFA Press, 2016), Blunderbuss Magazine, The Offing, The Brooklyn Rail, Joyland Magazine, The Scholar and Feminist Online, and has received honorable mention from Glimmer Train. He was a 2017 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellow in Nonfiction, and a resident in the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s 2017–2018 Workspace program. He is also an associate editor at Apogee Journal.
