Angie Romines is a writer, teacher, and Dolly Parton enthusiast living in Columbus, Ohio with her husband, two sons, and emotionally needy rescue pup. She is putting the finishing touches on her magical realism novel set in Eastern Kentucky while also working on additional essays that grapple with her Appalachian heritage. It is important to note that if escape rooms were an Olympic sport, she’d medal at the very least. Lately, she spends a lot of time in her best pandemic purchase—a hammock—dreaming about owning a four-wheeler even though she knows that's impractical for city life.

The Rumpus publishes original fiction, poetry, literary humor writing, comics, essays, book reviews, and interviews with authors and artists of all kinds. Our mostly volunteer-run magazine strives to be a platform for risk-taking voices and writing that might not find a home elsewhere. We lift up new voices alongside those of more established writers our readers may already know and love. We want to bring new perspectives into the conversation that will make us all look deeper.
