Ashlie Kauffman has an MFA in Poetry from New York University and an MFA in Fiction from the University of Maryland. Her recognitions include an Individual Artist Award in Fiction from the Maryland State Arts Council as well as residencies from the Vermont Studio Center, the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, and the Wellstone Center in the Redwoods. She is Senior Poetry Editor for the online journal jmww, for which she administers the Claudia Emerson Poetry Chapbook Award.

The Rumpus publishes original fiction, poetry, literary humor writing, comics, essays, book reviews, and interviews with authors and artists of all kinds. Our mostly volunteer-run magazine strives to be a platform for risk-taking voices and writing that might not find a home elsewhere. We lift up new voices alongside those of more established writers our readers may already know and love. We want to bring new perspectives into the conversation that will make us all look deeper.
