Beatriz Terrazas is a writer, photographer, and believer in the transformative power of story. In 1994 she was part of a Dallas Morning News team that won the Pulitzer Prize for a global project about violence against women. Her magazine credits include More, D, Skirt!, The Texas Observer, and Texas Highways. She’s a Nieman Fellow as well as a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors and the American Society of Media Photographers. She enjoys her role as reader and consultant for Carve Magazine, and cherishes her fellow artists in the Macondo Writing Workshops.

The Rumpus publishes original fiction, poetry, literary humor writing, comics, essays, book reviews, and interviews with authors and artists of all kinds. Our mostly volunteer-run magazine strives to be a platform for risk-taking voices and writing that might not find a home elsewhere. We lift up new voices alongside those of more established writers our readers may already know and love. We want to bring new perspectives into the conversation that will make us all look deeper.
