Becky Fine-Firesheets is a writer, musician, activist, and educator who moonlights as the lead singer and keyboardist in experimental pop/rock duo The Brooklyn Players Reading Society. Since writing this essay, she went on to have another healthy baby who was born in the car on the way to the hospital. The Rumpus publishes original fiction, poetry, literary humor writing, comics, essays, book reviews, and interviews with authors and artists of all kinds.
