Dayna Velasco was born in Mexico City and was raised in Neenah, Wisconsin. She spent a great deal of time in New Mexico before finding her way to the Pacific Northwest. She has devoted much of her life to honoring her creative passions which include dance, writing and painting. She earned a dual BFA in Fine Art and Latin American Literature, as well as a minor in Creative Writing from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. She also earned a BA in Dance, specializing in Flamenco, at the University of New Mexico. She was inspired to study energy medicine after experiencing its enormous benefits when she was healing from trauma. Dayna now owns her own practice called LunaSoul Energy Journey, where she helps clients heal from trauma and chronic patterns and serves as a guide through life transitions. Nature restores her soul, and she loves to spend time hiking, drawing, and meditating around water. "Semillas" is an excerpt from her memoir-in-progress about growing up as a Mexican immigrant in Wisconsin.
