Hayan Charara

Hayan Charara is the author of four poetry books, most recently These Trees, Those Leaves, This Flower, That Fruit (Milkweed Editions 2022). He also is series founder and editor, with Fady Joudah, of the Etel Adnan Poetry Prize. His children’s book about a child’s experiences during the July War in Lebanon, The Three Lucys, received the New Voices Award Honors. His debut novel, Hush, Little Children, is forthcoming in Fall 2025. Born in Detroit, he lived in New York City for many years before settling in Texas, where he is a professor at the University of Houston.
