Izzy Toy Rettke is a cilantro-averse butch from Chicago who writes about queerness, friendship, and great white sharks. They are a two-time recipient of the Nevin Prize, and the 2025 recipient of the Charlotte Paul Reese Memorial Prize for Creativity in Poetry. Their writing has been published or is forthcoming from The Academy of American Poets, Foglifter, The Wellesley Review, and Strange Horizons. When not writing poetry they can be found printmaking, folding zines, and making soup.
