Jennie Burke holds a BA in English and secondary education and an MFA in nonfiction. After teaching English to grades 6-12 for many years, she shifted to speaking to school groups about her experiences as a person impacted by addiction. Jennie’s work in progress is a collection of mini-memoirs about her years as a sister, daughter, mother, and wife in a family struggling across the addiction spectrum. The Rumpus publishes original fiction, poetry, literary humor writing, comics, essays, book reviews, and interviews with authors and artists of all kinds. Our mostly volunteer-run magazine strives to be a platform for risk-taking voices and writing that might not find a home elsewhere.
