Jessica McCaughey earned her MA in English and MFA in Creative Writing from George Mason University in Virginia. Her work has appeared in The Colorado Review, Phoebe, The Boston Globe Sunday Magazine, Best American Travel Essays 2011, and The Chronicle of Higher Education, among other publications. She teaches first-year and professional writing at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
At best, I see her not as my oldest friend, but as the protagonist in a movie, lost and beautiful and unstable, a character I sympathize with even as she self destructs.
