Laura Laing is the author of three books for math-phobics, as well as pieces for small and large publications across the country. She lives in Baltimore with her wife of nearly 30 years and their 16-year-old daughter and spends at least one week a year in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia. She is currently a student in Goucher College’s MFA program in creative nonfiction and is working on a memoir.
Until recently, coming out was almost always dangerous—not only to our careers and our relationships but also to our bodies. And so hiding was (and sometimes still is) a necessity.
