Micaela Bombard is a poet interested in narrative medicine, disability studies, and the poetics of embodiment. Her poems have appeared in Gulf Coast, Four Way Review, The Anthology of New England Writers, Health Affairs, DMQ Review, and others. Micaela has taught Narrative Medicine at Columbia University, and currently teaches composition and poetry at University of Missouri, Columbia.
“This is solid, mostly titanium,” the surgeon says while I’m still groggy in recovery. “You can’t pull it apart if you tried.,” and, almost as an afterthought, “Don’t try.”
