Niyah Morris is a writer and educator from Jersey City, NJ. She earned BAs in Ethnic Studies and Literary Arts from Brown University and is a current student in the MFA program at Rutgers University-Newark, where she also teaches freshman composition. She is the recipient of several writing prizes, including the Beth Feldman Prize in Fiction and the Casey Shearer Memorial Award for Excellence in Creative Nonfiction. Her work has appeared in The Round, Thin Noon, Nano Fiction, and Necessary Fiction, among others.

The Rumpus publishes original fiction, poetry, literary humor writing, comics, essays, book reviews, and interviews with authors and artists of all kinds. Our mostly volunteer-run magazine strives to be a platform for risk-taking voices and writing that might not find a home elsewhere. We lift up new voices alongside those of more established writers our readers may already know and love. We want to bring new perspectives into the conversation that will make us all look deeper.
