Sharon K. Sobotta is a lifetime advocate, a writer, a journalist, a mom, and a doula. She has dedicated her professional career to advocating for gender and racial equity, diversity, and amplifying the voices of marginalized populations in her role as the director of the Center for Women & Gender Equity at Saint Mary’s College of California and as a reporter and anchor for Pacifica KPFA news and a contributing producer and host for The Women's Magazine at KPFA.

The Rumpus publishes original fiction, poetry, literary humor writing, comics, essays, book reviews, and interviews with authors and artists of all kinds. Our mostly volunteer-run magazine strives to be a platform for risk-taking voices and writing that might not find a home elsewhere. We lift up new voices alongside those of more established writers our readers may already know and love. We want to bring new perspectives into the conversation that will make us all look deeper.
