Corwin is the author of The Uncertainty of Maps and Conversations With Friendly Demons and Tainted Saints and Hardy is the founder of Bent, a writing institute for LGBTIQ people in Seattle, WA, and the author of Bring Down the Chandeliers. 2 for 1 drinks. TUESDAY 9/27: John Lithgow will talk about his new book, Drama, An Actor’s Education, as well as his life and career at this author event at Barnes and Noble Union Square. 7 p.m. Free. Space opens at 5 p.m.
WEDNESDAY 9/28: Blaise Allysen Kearsley presents this month’s How I Learned Series reading on “How I Learned to Survive,” with Alexander Chee, Edinburgh; Ed Gavagan; Melanie Hamlett; Jillian Lauren, Pretty; and Joanne Solomon. Happy Ending. 8 p.m. Free.
THURSDAY 9/29: Storyteller Leslie Goshko presents Sideshow Goshko, with some of NY’s top writers and storytellers sharing true, bizarre tales about their lives. Tonight features Rob Lathan, Cammi Climaco, and Becky Flaum. Also featuring live accordion music, a challenging trivia game, and a free wine giveaway. KGB Bar. 7 p.m. Free.
FRIDAY 9/30: Today is the start of The New Yorker Festival, which runs until Sunday, October 2. Many of the events are sold out already, but a limited number of tickets will be sold at the door an hour before the start times of each event so check the schedule.
An event that’s not sold out yet is, “Alternative Realities,” with Karen Russell, Gary Shteyngart, and Colson Whitehead. Moderated by Willing Davidson, associate fiction editor of The New Yorker. SVA Theatre 1. 9:30 p.m. $27.
SATURDAY 10/01: McNally Jackson will host book signings for the New Yorker Festival. Today’s events include signings with Jorge Colombo, Andy Borowitz, T. Coraghessan Boyle, Joyce Carol Oates, Karen Russell, Gary Shteyngart, Calvin Trillin, Dorothy Wickenden, Geoff Dyer, and Jennifer Egan. 12 to 4 p.m.
SUNDAY 10/02: Day 2 of the McNally Jackson New Yorker Festival book signings. Today’s authors are Hisham Matar, Richard Dawkins, Jonathan Franzen, Colosn Whitehead, and Roz Chast. 12 to 3 p.m.
