I love the subtle touches in this one. Rain, alcohol, tears — all reinforcing the drowning theme. Life is overwhelming at times; sometimes I wonder how any of us survive the flood.
I also like that the story itself is circular, in a way. At the beginning Herb talks about having a pretty view while we’re here, and in the end he sees one last glowing landscape.
This is really well done. Thanks for sharing; it must’ve been difficult.

Wow. This is so beautiful and dark and amazing. The story is intense, but the way you shared it and the pacing and tone just make it so upsetting and powerful. So yes, just, wow.

Yes the pacing is fantastic. Herb’s statement “As long as we’ve got a pretty view while we’re here” is key.
