AWP is approaching quickly, and though I won’t be there, lots of other poetry folks will be. Raymond Bianchi has a (short) list of restaurants that conference goers might want to check out, and he promises to give out more advice should you stop by his table.
And if you’re trying to figure out who to hit up for a drink or two at the AWP, the Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg prizes have just been awarded, and while the awards page hasn’t been finalized just yet, you can get a preview here.
Project Verse is claiming to be the first poetic reality show, only there’s not a show as such. It’s an interesting idea, but what about a poetry competition modeled on Temptation Island? Or better yet, The Tool Academy?
The Flarf Wars continue. Do us a favor and make it possible for us to link to individual posts, would you? I’m pointing to the Feb. 6 post, in case it isn’t clear. More here.
And something from the other side.
Until two weeks ago, memoirist and Atlantic blogger Ta-Nehisi Coates was offering a poem for discussion every Friday. It was one of the few mainstream (read: not poetry-centric) places on the web where poetry had a prominent place. Drop him a line and ask him to reinstate the practice.
