Today’s video interruption, in my humble opinion, is one of the best we’ve ever run. It involves a bear, a cardboard cutout, a papier-mâché mask, and a local Fox News reporter who is either a viral video genius or lost a bet. “This is what the bear probably looked like… except real.”
This got me thinking about some of my other favorite interruptions.
Daniel Pelletier’s skate video is definitely up there. I’ve watched it multiple times. On good days it makes me recognize the incredible ability we humans have to achieve the impossible. On bad days it makes me feel pretty silly for quitting skateboarding at the age of 14 because I thought I was too fat to ollie.
Another recent video that I love is the moving Helen Keller Speaks, but also the more sobering (yet less serious) While You Were Away.
All of the Auto-tune the News videos are amazing, but #5 is the best.
Please Say Something tells the tale of a troubled relationship between a cat and a mouse set in the distant future. Too sad? Then take a moment to watch Gary Oldman in the role of a lifetime, or Ricky Gervais decimating the fourth wall on Sesame Street.
Of course, those are just my favorites. Let me know yours in the comments below (you can find all the video interruptions, starting at the beginning, here). Speaking of comments, I almost forgot: “We Didn’t Start the Flame War.”
