THE FOR SALE SIGN PLACED IN MY YARD
★★★★★ (5 out of 5)
Hello, and welcome to my week-by-week review of everything in the world. Today I am reviewing the ‘for sale’ sign placed in my yard.
When I stepped out to get the paper this morning I noticed a ‘for sale’ sign placed near the sidewalk. My first thought was that I’d accidentally slept in the wrong house again, but I looked over my shoulder and it was definitely my house. I could tell because it looks just like it and has the same number on it. Plus, my neighbor lives next to it and she waved to me.
At my age I tend to forget a lot, so I considered the possibility that I’d decided to sell my house and it just slipped my mind. But that seemed like a big thing to forget. Usually the things I forget are why I walked into a room or why I’m on the bus.
Then it hit me: the sign must be a very realistic practical joke. It looked very authentic with the real estate agent photo and the big wooden post. The hoodlums in my neighborhood have gotten really creative, I thought.
I’ve always taken practical jokes well, and also dished them out. There was the time in college when some buddies and I took our friend – asleep on his mattress – and set him into the ocean. We laughed and laughed as he drifted away. He must have been pretty upset with us because we never heard from him again. Some people just can’t take a joke..
The sign included a website, so I looked it up. Can you believe it? They made a whole website for this real estate agent who deals in foreclosures. Ha ha! If I didn’t know better I would have thought my house was being repossessed by the bank. Well done!
