This week in San Francisco: Brooklyn’s own Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School comes to 111 Minna, Dorian Katz conducts a “panty exchange” as part of the one-night-only art show, Everything Must Go!, and vegetarians take over as an annual mass tryptophan induced slumber takes hold of the city’s carnivores.
Monday 11/23: Start your week off right at the Cat’s Pajamas Cabaret at The Makeout Room. Stop by between 8 and 10pm for a speakeasy-themed evening of reading and song. 21+, free, 3225 22nd St.
Tuesday 11/24: Get your drawing-sassy-naked-ladies fix at 111 Minna as they host Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School with Eva Von Slut. BYO art supplies (dry media only, please), and Dr. Sketchy’s will provide the hot naked lady and the booze. 7-10pm, 21+ $10 at the door ($7 for students with ID, or bring your non-drawing friends for free!), 111 Minna St.
Wednesday 11/25: Ever wondered what karaoke would be like if you took booze out of the equation, sat everyone down in a theater, and threw in an iconic movie and a handful of drag queens? Well, it’s about time you found out. Sing Along Sound of Music is back at the Castro Theater! 7pm, $15 adults/$10 seniors and children, 429 Castro St.
Thursday 11/26: It’s that time of year again. Test your tolerance for your own family members at a large turkey-based gathering. Happy Thanksgiving!
Friday 11/27: Recover from your tryptophan hangover by re-discovering your own beloved city. Stop by the California Historical Society to see images of San Francisco dating back to the good ol’ days (When plumbing and electricity were a luxury!) Noon-5pm, $3 adults/$1 seniors and children! 678 Mission St.
Saturday 11/28: Everything Must Go!, an exploration of the ephemeral nature of value, takes over the Climate Theater for a single night of art and performance. Curated by the MicroClimate Collective, the show features the videos of Ranu Mukherjee and Michael Paulus, the sculptures of Russell Larman and Niki Shapiro, and a drawing/panty exchange with Dorian Katz (whatever that means). 8pm, $5+ sliding scale donation, 285 9th St. (@ Folsom).
Sunday 11/29: You’ve probably caught a free show or two at one of their favorite haunts (like the corner of Powell and O’Farrell, or the landing outside the Civic Center BART station). Now the Ferocious Few are bringing their low-fi punk rockabilly act to Cafe du Nord to open for Murder of Lilies. Doors at 7pm, 21+, $10, 2170 Market St.
