These images come from Maria Rosa: Everyday Fun and Carnival Frolic with Children in Brazil by Vera Kelsey, illustrated by the Brazilian artist Candido Portinari. I’m working with a 1942 US edition, but I imagine there are many editions from around the world.
I decided the decapitated troll from Estonia was not a pleasant enough way to end the year, so I present here a quick post in a gentler vein.
