Monday 2/15: Misery loves company. Drag your downtrodden post-Valentine’s Day self over to Cafe Royale for a free performance of A Valentine’s Day Post Mortem, “a series of short plays and songs for the bitter dumped kid in all of us” by the good people of Atmos Theater. 7:30pm @ 800 Post Street.
Tuesday 2/16: Stop by USF this evening for a reading by University of Iowa’s John D’Agata. D’Agata is the author of About a Mountain and Halls of Fame and the editor of The Lost Origins of the Essay and The Next American Essay. This reading, sponsored by USF’s English department, is free and open to the public. 7:30pm @ Maraschi Room, Fromm Hall, USF Main Campus.
Wednesday 2/17: Support the arts while getting drunk! Buy a ticket to Artopia 2010 at Project One and get there early for the hosted open bar (between 6 and 7pm). Then stay and see your impact in action as artists are awarded MasterMinds grants funded by Artopia ticket sales. $5-$10, 6pm @ 251 Rhode Island Street.
Thursday 2/18: Head over to the California Academy of Sciences for a special Noise Pop edition of Nightlife. The Frail, Brookhaven, Sleazemore, and Disco Shawn will perform as a part of the pre-party celebration. Friday 2/19: Take a break from the rest of IndieFest for some hard earned “Amateur Bicycle Erotica”. That’s right, it exists, and it’s coming to The Roxie in the form of Bike Porn 3: Cycle Bound. Not sure if you’re hip enough to get down with your fixie like that? Check out the Bike Smut Blog to learn more about the brave bike loving auteurs that make Bike Porn happen. Saturday 2/20: Children of all ages, stop by the Zeum for the opening reception of My San Francisco: A Neighborhood Mashup. The show features work by children from six different community based organizations: CENTS, BAYCAT, Leap…imagination in learning, Southern Exposure, SisterHoods, and Welcome to the NeighborHOOD and shows San Francisco neighborhood by neighborhood through the eyes of our city’s youth. 2pm @ 221 4th Street.
Sunday 2/21: Make it a museum weekend: visit the Contemporary Jewish Museum for Inside The Activists Studio, a series of panel discussions hosted by the CJM as a program of the American Jewish World Service-AVODAH Partnership.
