Monday 3/22: Stop by the Makeout Room for something other than the monthly Rumpus. Tonight, the Makeout Room’s monthly variety show teams up with Whore Magazine for “The Revolutionary Poets Brigade”. $5 gets you in for an evening of music, readings, and performances about the evolution of revolution. 21+, 8pm @ 3225 22nd Street.
Tuesday 3/23: Head over to Tosca Cafe for a reading by Sam Lipsyte, author of The Ask, the sad and hilarious story of Milo, a former art school star turned mediocre adult, whose aimless life all together too many readers will surely find themselves relating to. 7:30pm @ 242 Columbus.
Wednesday 3/24: Enjoy the first official week of Spring while giving back to our fair city by volunteering with the Presidio Park Stewards. Fight invasive species, plant native ones, or gather seeds in the beautiful reclaimed military land that makes up the Presidio, every Wednesday and Saturday at 9am. Thursday 3/25: Are you shamelessly obsessed with Twitter? Turn your favorite guilty pleasure into fund raising for a good cause at this year’s Twestival SF. Using social media for social good, volunteers in cities worldwide are organizing events and tweeting the word to raise money for a Concern Worldwide. Friday 3/26: Before you go out and get all banged up this Friday night, stop by Booksmith on Haight for a duo of readings from Jessica Anthony, author of The Convalescent, and Chris Adrian, author of The Childrens Hospital. 7:30pm @ 1644 Haight Street.
Then stop by SoMa’s Gallery 16 for Soul/Food No. 2, a benefit for Music in Schools Today. Music from Money Mark, Tommy Guerrero, Marc and The Casuals, rare 16mm Films by Stephen Parr of Oddball films, and vintage soul sounds on original vinyl from DJ Chas Gaudi. $20 donation, 7pm @ 501 Third Street.
Saturday 3/27: Focusing on the art of women, ethnic minorities, and queers of all sorts, Descry Magazine celebrates the release of it’s second issue in the neighborhood that created it: The Mission. Check out Mexico City artist, ARTIEMO at Queen’s Nails Projects and pick up the latest issue of Descry, which can also be found at Books Inc., Booksmith, Dog Eared, and Needles and Pens. 7-11pm @ Queen’s Nails Projects, 3191 Mission Street.
Sunday 3/28: San Francisco’s Switchboard Music Festival is an eight hour cross-genre aural spectacle that takes over the Dance Mission Theater. Featuring performances by Thorny Brocky, Kate Campbell, Teslim, Sqwonk, Sabbaticus Rex, Real Vocal String Quartet, Billygoat, Matt Small Chamber Ensemble, and Zoë Keating, the festival starts at 2pm and runs until 10pm. $10-40 sliding scale tickets, 3316 24th Street.
