Library of Congress to Collect All Tweets

“Library to acquire ENTIRE Twitter archive — ALL public tweets, ever, since March 2006! Details to follow.”

The message above was tweeted this morning by @librarycongress, the The Library of Congress‘s official Twitter account.

So what does this mean? As Marshall Kirkpatrick states, “The addition of Twitter into the organization’s offerings could foster an enormous amount of academic research. From a new kind of historical record to an unprecedented opportunity for discovering patterns of social interaction, this is big.” Find out more.
