Monday 4/26: Ladies, participate in a global experiment you’ll surely tell your grandchildren about some day: Boobquake! The brainchild of blogger, Jen McCreight, Boobquake aims to disprove an Iranian prayer leader’s recent assertion that immodesty causes earthquakes. Then, get your decolletage down to The Makeout Room for a mod edition of Cat’s Pajamas, an evening of music and dance hosted by Ginger of Whore Magazine. 21+, $5, 8pm @ 3225 22nd Street.
Tuesday 4.27: Audacious? No doubt. Preposterous? Definitely. Dauntless? YES! The Yes Men is a film that documents the escapades of Andy Bichlbaum as he impersonates various corporate and national representatives in order to give false press releases that he hopes will “fix the world”. The Commonwealth Club presents this showing in their Blue Room with tickets $20 general/$12 for members/$7 for students. 7pm @ 595 Market Street.
Wednesday 4/28: Sailor, Lula, and Bobby Peru turn 20 with an anniversary screening of Wild at Heart at the Balboa Theater. Better than a date and cheaper than porn, catch the 35mm archival x-rated version for only $10! Thursday 4/29: Stop by the Book Passage in the Ferry Building this evening for a McSweeney’s reading with Nick McDonnell (The End of Major Combat Operations and An Expensive Education), Peter Orner (The Second Coming of Mavala Shikongo), and Tom Barbash (The Last Good Chance). Pick up a copy of McDonnell’s newest book along with issue 34 of McSweeney’s, and be the best read hipster at the cafe by next weekend. 6pm @ 1 Ferry Building #42.
Friday 4/30: The Cartel makes its Bay Area debut at the Landmark Opera Plaza. Documenting the pitfalls of the American public school system, The Cartel dispels the myth that higher spending encourages better education. Four showings, including 2:10 and 4:50 matinees.
Saturday 5/1: The works of two of fashion’s most influential photographers come together at the Robert Tat Gallery for an exhibition of Horst P. Horst and George Hoyningen-Huene. Open from 11am @ 49 Geary Street.
