Monday 6/7: See a performance in a motel room that isn’t illegal. Mugwumpin’s latest “occurrence”, Get This Go, is a story of the limbo experienced by those forced out of their homes by disaster, taking with them only what they can carry. The performance is part of a series of performances created for non-theatrical spaces, and reservations are required, although the event is free. Performances at 7/7:30/8/8:30pm @ the Pacific Heights Inn, 1555 Union Street.
Tuesday 6/8: Stop by 111 Minna for Lit + Lunch. This time around, Basque author, Bernardo Atxanga talks about his newest book, The Accordionist’s Son. Booze and sandwiches are available at this free lunchtime event. 21+, 12:30-1:30pm @ 111 Minna.
Wednesday 6/9: The Rumpus and the Rickshaw Stop present an evening of music, intriguing video projections, and rad friends! Featuring The Yellow Dress, Rachel Fannan, and Quite Polite! Tickets $10, 8pm @ 155 Fell Street.
Thursday 6/10: When was the last time you visited the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art? Stop by the SFMoMA Cafe to see a large print exhibition of Small Potatoes creator, Paul Madonna’s All Over Coffee series. You can still get Madonna’s Album 01 through Electric Works and see the MoMa show anytime through July 6th. SFMoMA is located at 151 3rd Street.
Friday 6/11: Whether you’re a seasoned regular or a Death Match virgin, head down to the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts for the biggest Literary Death Match yet! See Jane Smiley, Brian Boitano, and Daniel Handler (a.k.a. Lemony Snicket) pass judgment on Beth Lisick, Daniel Alarcón, Jillian Lauren, and Taylor Mali. Saturday 6/12: Head over to the Makeout Room for Lightbox’s The Crafty Hour bazaar event from noon-5pm, and then stay in the neighborhood for Writers With Drinks (6:30-9:30pm), also at the Makeout Room! Free/$5-10 @ 3225 22nd Street.
Sunday 6/13: Get your “potential and vanished soundscapes” on at Yerba Buena Gardens for the Soundwave Festival’s Phantom Power crowd-sourced “sound cloud” event. Free @ 7pm (This “sound cloud” uses participants’ ipods and music players to create a non-intrusive sound experience, so visit the Soundwave website for event downloads).
