Tuesday 6/29: Join the San Francisco History Association for a discussion and slide show about pisco punch, including a history of the Peruvian brandy with author, Guillermo L. Toro-Lira (Wings of Cherubs: The Saga of he Rediscovery of Pisco Punch, Old San Francisco’s Mystery Drink). The SFHA hosts a unique discussion each month at St. Philip’s Church. Wednesday 6/30: Put on your best Daisy Fay, grab yourself a Gatsby, and head down to the Palace Hotel for Variety Children’s Charity of Northern California’s annual Great Gatsby Ball. Party like it’s 1929 with swanky hors d’oeuvres, classic cocktails, silent auction and raffles, and a costume contest! Tickets $25-$1500, 6pm @ 2 New Montgomery Street.
Thursday 7/1: Who needs new shoes when you could be buying a new vibrator? Join resident sexologist, Carol Queen, at the Good Vibrations on Valencia for a free class on how to choose the perfect toy for any occasion. Free, 6:30-7:30pm @603 Valencia Street.
Friday 7/2: Stop by the Museum of Craft + Design for a lunch hour walkthrough of FourSite, a site-specific collection of large scale installations by Tanya Aguiñiga, Paul Hayes, Tom Hill and Christine Lee. Adults $5/seniors and children $3, 11am @ 550 Sutter Street.
Saturday 7/3: Sex work meets fine art at the opening of reception of Laurenn McCubbin’s graphically explicit one-woman show at Femina Potens. Stop by at 7pm for drinks, or get there at 9pm for a live artist performance. McCubbin brings her own personal experience in sex work to the exhibit, which focuses on the contradictions within the industry in Sin City. 7-10:30pm @ 2199 Market St.
Sunday 7/4: Before you get drunk on cheep beer and watch planned explosions in the sky, take a trip down to Fillmore Street between Jackson and Eddy for the 2010 Fillmore Jazz Festival. Check out up to sixteen different musical performances across five stages at this annual festival, which goes on all day. Free and all ages! 10am-6pm on Fillmore between Jackson and Eddy Streets.
