(detail of above illustration for “Terad”)
I feature here Heinz Valk‘s illustrations for a children’s poem book by Helvi Jurisson (Estonia). In submitting these scans, Piia from A Lifetime of Temporary Relief mentioned that Valk “incidentally played an important role during the Singing Revolution and in Estonia’s liberation from the Soviet occupation back in the eighties and early nineties.”
The odd post title is Google’s graphic (mis)translation of a line from “Terad”: “miks on tera sinu silmal?” I think it nicely evokes Un Chien Andalou.
