A lot of folks (including us) have been talking about “I Write Like,” the website that tells you “which famous writer you write like” using a “statistical analysis tool.” Sure the science is dubious at best, but it’s still fun.
Today The Awl has an interview with Dmitry Chestnykh, “the 27-year-old Russian software developer” behind the site, in which he discusses his secret algorithm and his favorite authors. He also admits that currently there are only 50 writers in the site’s database, in case you were wondering why you didn’t get that “I write like Hai Zi” response you were hoping for.
