The Helpers (Czechoslovakia, 1968)
Animated by Kluge-Masnik, design by Hana Stepanova, music by J. Malasek and J. Bazant, camera by Vl. Malik
, directed by Josef Kluge

Florentina, which comes from my personal collection of Czech kids’ books, is a translation of a story by the German writer James Kruss. I can’t find any information on Hana Stepanova, but I know she illustrated a handful of books in the 60s, designed the above animation, and I’m guessing she was married to Bohumil Stepan.

If you are a fan of weird synthy modern classical (and who isn’t?), do not miss the soundtrack to the cartoon!
