Illustrations by Albert Dubout for L’Ingenieux Hidalgo Don Quichotte de la Manche (1938):
From the Cervantes Collection of the Cushing Memorial Library & Archives, my third dive into an endlessly-amazing resource. See all 381 images from the book.
Dubout’s wiki page gives an interesting tidbit: Philippe Soupault gave him his first book illustration commission.
These illustrations make me fantasize about a 50s or 60s Looney Tunes Quixote adaptation.
