This is the best cry for help I’ve read all year.
The whole Year in Reading thing here and elsewhere is interesting to me. I heard once that Art Garfunkel has kept notebooks detailing every book he has read since his late teens. (Here, I could search the internet for confirmation, but don’t.)
I propose writing a progressive Year in Reading for the Rumpus starting now rather than a Year in Reading review in December of 2011.
I just wanted to say… sorry. Sincerely, I am sorry for not sending you a review of Yusef Komunyaka’s last (or second to last, maybe by now) collection of poems which you sent to me in Oct 09. I wrote the review; actually i wrote three of them. but i didn’t like them, i didn’t like what i was saying about the poems, and i was afraid i didn’t know how to write for an audience, blah blah blah, and i quit trying.
but now, more than a year later, and after realizing how foolish my thinking had been, I’d like try again. Of course, i understand if this is simply not going to happen.
anyway, thanks for giving me a self esteem a boost back then in 10/09, and i hope life is well,
