Musician Peter Squires (who we interviewed in 2009) recently joined forces with Anne Marple to take on the RPM challenge.
The challenge, which “is a little like National Novel Writing Month” but with music, is to write and record a full-length album during the cold month of February. That’s a whole album in 28 days. It should be noted that before February 1st Marple and Squires had never played a note of music together. In fact, Ann had never played in a band at all.
Yet come March the pair had completed something, as Peter puts it, “much better than we imagined we ever could.” They called their band The Farthest Forests, titled the album Strange Wool, and posted it on the indie-musician-friendly site Bandcamp.
The icing on the cake? After posting the album online the band was discovered and signed by Portland, OR label Blueberry Hill Records. Strange Wool will be officially released this Spring. But you can still listen to it here. Enjoy.
