Slightly off topic, but I think to characterize David Simon’s film work, the novelistic scope and construction of The Wire or Treme, as “pop culture” is to greatly underestimate what he has undertaken and achieved. There is an excellent current interview this week in New Orleans’ music and culture magazine Offbeat.
