In Pike Lake, Saskatchewan (easy to draw; hard to spell!), Shaunna Raycraft and her husband are desperate to save about 30 metric tons of books from a firey fate.
The books’ previous, now-deceased owner was a collector, amassing 350,000 books in his rural home–so rural, in fact, that his wife had trouble convincing appraisers to come out and see the books. Her solution: burning the books. The Raycrafts have since stepped in to save the collection, which includes Shakespeare, textbooks, and “a first edition copy of Black Beauty,” only slightly charred from the burning.
Unfortunately, time and money are scarce, and the couple is running out of options. Hopefully a shipping container/climate controlled vessel is just around the corner. Until the, suggestions are greatly appreciated.
